How to Edit Text in a PDF Online
The PDF Text Editor lets you click a line or heading in a PDF and change the words directly on the page. It tries to match the original font size and weight, so a corrected name, date, price or typo blends in with the rest of the document. You can also click an empty area to add a new text box, drag lines to move them and resize boxes.
For each selected line you can switch bold or italic on or off, change the size, pick a color or delete the text. Use the previous and next page buttons to move through a multi-page file, then download the edited PDF.
- Drop a PDF onto the page or choose a file from your device.
- Click the line you want to change and type the new text.
- Use Add text box for new content, and drag or resize boxes into place.
- Check each page, then click Download edited PDF.
PDFs that are only scanned pictures usually have no text layer to edit. For those, run PDF to Text with OCR first, or add new words with a text box. Editing happens locally in your browser, so the file is never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Will the edited text match the original font?
The editor reads the size and weight of the line you click and applies them to your new text. Results are closest on PDFs that use common fonts.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
A scan is an image, so there is normally no text to click. You can run OCR with the PDF to Text tool, or add a new text box over the area.
Is my PDF sent to a server?
No. The file is opened and edited inside your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
