How to Turn Text Into a Quote, Notice or Announcement Image

Create clean text images for WhatsApp status, social posts, shop notices and school announcements: choose size, colours and alignment for a design that is easy to read.

A plain, well-made text image beats a cluttered one. It can be a daily quote for a WhatsApp status, a notice on a shop door, a school announcement, a holiday closing message or a discount offer. You do not need a design program: a simple editor with a few good choices will give you a clean result. This guide explains what to choose and why, using Text to Image.

Start with the purpose

Before you type, decide where the image will be used. That decides the size, the amount of text and the contrast.

Step by step

  1. Type or paste your text into the editor.
  2. Format it: choose Heading 1 for the main line, set the font size, and use bold or italic to emphasise key words. Select a word first to change only that word.
  3. Pick a text colour and a background colour: white, warm cream, midnight dark, or transparent for a PNG.
  4. Set the default alignment: left, centre, right or justify.
  5. Pick the canvas: A4 document, Letter or Square 1:1.
  6. Choose the pagination option, then press Download image. One page downloads as a PNG; several pages download as one PDF.

Design rules that always help

Contrast

The most important rule. Black on white or cream is the safest. White or gold on midnight dark looks elegant and works well on phone screens at night. Avoid light grey on white and red on green, which are hard to read for many people.

Size

Phones show images small. A line that looks large in the editor can be tiny in a chat window. For a square post, use a heading size of at least 36 to 48 and keep the body at 24 or more. For an A4 notice that people read from a short distance, keep the heading above 36 and the body at 14 to 18.

Line length and spacing

Short lines are easier to read than long ones. Break your message into two or three short lines instead of a single paragraph that spreads across the width. Use blank lines between ideas.

Alignment

Centre a short quote or a one-line announcement. Left-align anything longer than three lines, because ragged centred text is tiring to read. Use justify only for longer blocks on a wide page.

Emphasis

Choose one thing to emphasise per image: a date, a price or a name. If everything is bold, nothing stands out.

Ideas and layouts

Several pages

If your text is longer than one page, the tool can add pages automatically, or you can fit everything onto one page or into a set number of pages. Use the page break button to start a new page where you want one. Several pages download as one PDF, which is handy for a small handout.

Before you share

Add a watermark if you want credit

If you design original quote cards and want credit when they are shared, you can add your name or page name to the finished image with the Text Watermark tool. Keep the opacity low enough that it does not fight the message.

Private by default

The image is built in your browser. Your text is not uploaded, so an unreleased announcement or a private message stays on your device until you choose to share it. For more options and detail, read the main guide on turning text into an image.

Frequently asked questions

What size should a social media image be?

A square image works almost everywhere for posts and chat statuses. The Square 1:1 canvas in Text to Image is designed for that. A4 and Letter suit printable notices.

How do I keep the text readable?

Use strong contrast between text and background, a large enough size, and short lines. Dark text on a cream or white background, or white text on a dark background, are both safe choices.

Can I make an image with a transparent background?

Yes. Choose the Transparent (PNG) background to export just the text, which you can place over another picture or design in an editor.

Can I add my logo?

Text to Image only creates text graphics. You can place the downloaded image into an editor and add a logo there.
