How to Turn Text into an Image (Quotes, Notices, Posts)

Turn typed text into a clean PNG image or PDF. Choose fonts, colors, a transparent or colored background and an A4, Letter or square canvas.

Text turns into a picture more often than people expect. A notice for a school gate, a quote for a social media post, a price list for a WhatsApp status or a short announcement for a shop window all work better as an image than as a plain message. An image looks the same on every phone, cannot be accidentally reflowed, and is easy to share. This guide shows how to make one in a few minutes without any design software.

What you can make with Text to Image

Step-by-step: create a text image

  1. Open the Text to Image converter.
  2. Type or paste your text into the editor.
  3. Format it with the toolbar. Use Heading 1 for a title and Heading 2 for a subtitle or author line. Set the font size anywhere from 8 to 72, and turn on bold, italic or underline where it helps.
  4. Choose the text color and the background color: white, warm cream, midnight dark or transparent.
  5. Set the default alignment: left, center, right or justified.
  6. Pick the canvas size: A4, Letter, or square 1:1.
  7. Choose how pages should be handled, then click Download image.

Tip: select a word or a line first if you want to style only that part. With nothing selected, the text color setting applies to everything.

Pick the right canvas for where it will be used

If you only need a single card, choose the option that fits everything on one page. If your text is long, let the tool add pages automatically or tell it how many pages to use.

Design tips for text that is easy to read

Using a transparent background

With the background set to Transparent (PNG), the exported image contains only the words. You can then place it on top of a photo in a presentation, a poster or an image editor. Keep in mind that light-colored text can disappear when the transparent image is viewed on a white page, so preview it on the final background before you share it.

Image or PDF?

A single page is saved as an image. Several pages are combined into one PDF. If your main goal is a printable document with headings and a page count, creating a PDF from text may be a better fit. If you want the words to look handwritten, see How to Turn Typed Text into Handwriting-Style Pages. And if you later need to pull text back out of a picture, OCR can do that.

Private by design

The image is drawn locally in your browser, so unfinished drafts, personal notes and private announcements are never uploaded. You can explore the rest of the free tools on the tools page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make the background transparent?

Yes. Choose Transparent (PNG) as the background color to export the text with no background. That is useful when you want to place the words over another design.

What sizes can I export?

A4, Letter and a square 1:1 canvas that suits social media posts. Longer text can continue across several pages.

Can I save more than one page?

Yes. Multi-page results are exported as a PDF, and a single page can be saved as an image.

Is my text uploaded to a server?

No. The image is drawn in your browser, so your text stays on your device.
